Jump-Start Your Memoir; Write It From The Heart

  • Santosha at Hillholm Estate 33 Winter Hill Street Kingfield, ME, 04947 United States (map)

Santosha is thrilled to welcome Nancy Slonim Aronie for her extraordinarily popular workshop, Jump-Start Your Memoir; Write It From The Heart. Do you have a life story that you’ve been waiting to start? This is your nudge to dive in. For four days and three nights, you will join Nancy for a series of heartfelt discussions, fascinating lectures, and warm workshops as you begin to craft your story using her unique writing methodology from The Chilmark Writing Workshop.

Nancy Slonim Aronie is the author of Writing from the Heart: Tapping the Power of your Inner Voice and Memoir as Medicine: The Healing Power of Writing Your Messy, Imperfect, Unruly (but Gorgeously Yours) Life Story. She has been a commentator for National Public Radio’s All Things Considered and was a visiting writer at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. Nancy wrote a monthly column in McCall’s magazine and was the recipient of the Eye of The Beholder Artist in Residence Award at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. She has also been recognized for excellence in teaching with Robert Coles at Harvard University.

She is the founder of The Chilmark Writing Workshop on Martha’s Vineyard and teaches her Jump-Start Your Memoir; Write It From The Heart program at Esalen, Kripalu, Omega Institute, and Blue Spirit in Costa Rica. Her column, "From The Heart" appears biweekly in The Martha’s Vineyard Times.

Meanwhile, Santosha provides all the programming you know and love from our Holistic Retreats every day, so you have plenty of options outside the program—four daily meals, three daily yoga classes, two daily meditations, our nightly dharma talk, and more. Spend the days in reflection, then wrap up the day with a good soak in the jacuzzi, a steam in our brand new cedar barrel sauna, and a hot toddy by the fire.

$ - $450/night, for a solo retreat guest in a private room with a King or Queen bed and ensuite washroom; $650/night, split between two retreat guests traveling together, sharing a private room with two Double beds and ensuite washroom. Beverages from the bar in the Great Room, Healing Arts treatments, tax and gratuity are charged separately. Because we frequently receive this question: unlike other retreat centers, there is no separate program fee associated with this program—the value listed above is comprehensive of all room, board, and programming.
