Spinning a Yarn: Crafting and Storytelling

  • Santosha on the Carrabassett 33 Winter Hill Street Kingfield, ME, 04947 United States (map)

After so many requests from knitters and crafters, Santosha on the Carrabassett is proud to offer a long weekend especially for our crafty yogis.

Handiwork and storytelling go hand in hand. As we gather around our projects, we trade stories about life outside the circle. Humans have gathered for millennia around handicrafts, finding comfort in shared labor and communal experience. Big into crafting but new to storytelling? Or love storytelling, but need some time with your newest macrame project? Maybe you need dedicated time with an embroidery project or or your watercolors. Join fellow crafty yogis and storytellers for a weekend of creativity and recollection. Through stories, we find common threads that bind us. With gently guided exercises, we will explore common themes of our lived experience and tell spontaneous stories about those moments—bringing us deeper into community and togetherness.

Meanwhile, Santosha provides all the programming you know and love from our Holistic Retreats every day, so you have plenty of options outside your crafting and storytelling—four daily meals, three daily yoga classes, two daily meditations, our nightly dharma talk, and more. Spend the days writing and workshopping, then wrap up the day with a good soak in the jacuzzi, a steam in our brand new cedar barrel sauna, and a hot toddy by the fire. Whether you’re traveling alone or with a companion (even one who doesn’t want to knit!), know that you’ll be in good hands with plenty to keep you busy.

$ - The value of this Specialty Retreat is the same as the value of our Holistic Retreats. Learn more about value here. Craft materials not included: please bring your own projects and materials.
